Camano 1970s Beach House

Our clients’ beautiful Camano Island beachfront 1970s post-and-beam home has a strong midcentury architectural bent, but previous owners had made many remodeling decisions that ran counter to the architecture of the house. We were brought in to orchestrate a sympathetic design approach to peel away decades of questionable remodels, bringing the house back to its midcentury roots.

The clients love midcentury architecture and, along with the waterfront location, that was the driving inspiration for the house. A totally reworked kitchen layout and updates in the bathrooms and basement bar honor the ‘70s glamour of the house, making a great home for vacation memories.

Light colors and natural materials were employed to echo the textures and colors of the sea. Retro features and finishes throughout lend a sense of playfulness and color.

A home tour of the project is featured on Sunset magazine’s website.
