Picnic Point Joy-up

After settling into a midcentury home, our clients reached out in search of a designer to transform their living spaces to be "intentionally joyful". As fans of bohemian design, the clients embrace color and pattern, and wanted to feature their art, indoor plant collection, and family history, including travels to the wife's native South Africa.

We added custom built-ins, colorful wallpaper, a mix of vintage and new furniture, and personal touches throughout. An existing skylight above the living room became the perfect spot for a "green chandelier" of our clients’ hanging plants.

The resulting space exudes joy, even on cloudy Pacific Northwest days.

Edmonds Bowl Expansion

Nestled in the the seaside town of Edmonds, our clients have bought a home with a great location with seaside views. The house has an amazing location but had some puzzling finish and layout decisions made by the previous homeowners. We worked closely with the clients' architects to reimagine the home's floor plan. Reworking the layout and roofline emphasizes views of the Salish Sea.

Fun and unexpected touches were incorporated throughout (like a wine room viewed through a porthole window in the stairwell). The result is a welcoming and bright space for our clients to call home.

Camano 1970s Beach House

Our clients’ beautiful Camano Island beachfront 1970s post-and-beam home has a strong midcentury architectural bent, but previous owners had made many remodeling decisions that ran counter to the architecture of the house. We were brought in to orchestrate a sympathetic design approach to peel away decades of questionable remodels, bringing the house back to its midcentury roots.

The clients love midcentury architecture and, along with the waterfront location, that was the driving inspiration for the house. A totally reworked kitchen layout and updates in the bathrooms and basement bar honor the ‘70s glamour of the house, making a great home for vacation memories.

Light colors and natural materials were employed to echo the textures and colors of the sea. Retro features and finishes throughout lend a sense of playfulness and color.

Seattle Jazz Age House

This well-preserved 1919 Jacobethan Tudor home was purchased by a young tech couple who appreciated the existing architecture of the house, but wanted it to reflect their modern sensibilities.

The clients were very particular about the feel they wanted for the house, opting for neutrals over color, and moody tones over bright spaces. Geometric wallpaper and furnishings add in more layers of stylistic contrast, using a mix of art deco and 1970s-inspired patterns and pieces.

The comprehensive and fast-paced remodel touched almost every room of the four-story house. Although the home's original floor plan was honored, two new ensuite bathrooms were created (one a converted from a home gym, the other an attic nook), and a 1920s-inspired speakeasy bar was carved out of an unused space in the basement to show off the clients' impressive liquor collection.

The project has been featured in Luxe Interiors + Design, as well as on LivingEtc UK.

Cottage Lake

I was thrilled when our clients reached out to me about designing a second project with them— a full-scale remodel of their new “forever home”. The 1980s house had a good overall floor plan, but needed adjustments throughout to make the house work for their young family.

Reconfiguring the kitchen, adding a walk-in pantry, converting an unused sitting room into a formal dining room, and creating a wet bar were among their must-have items. In addition, close attention was paid to important areas like the laundry room, to make sure we were optimizing every square foot of the space to work hard.

Practical and durable finishes were combined with playful pattern, resulting in a family home that is timeless, comfortable, and highly functional

Camano Island Beach House

Located on the north shore of Camano Island, this unique beachfront home underwent a major transformation. The house has undergone several additions and remodels since it was originally built in 1930, leaving a disjointed floorplan and whimsical roofline. Lane Williams Architects re-envisioned the home’s layout to flow better and take advantage of the stunning views, and Camano-based Holbeck Construction brought the design vision to life. Shannon Adamson Interior Design oversaw the lighting design, coordinated interior finishes and millwork, and to selected furniture for the spaces.

We created inviting but pared-down spaces that are in tune with the home’s natural surroundings, allowing the coastal views to take center stage. PNW-inspired lighting, textural finishes, and family-friendly furnishings create a truly relaxing getaway.

This project was featured in Luxe Interiors + Design, Pacific Northwest Edition in September/October 2022.

Lake Loma Country House

Tucked away in north Snohomish county, this new build house was designed to fit the lifestyle of our clients’ busy family. The client had found the floorplans that suited them, but had no architect. This gave us continuous creative control over the entire home-- exteriors and interiors, architectural details, ceilings, mouldings, built-ins, all the way down to furnishings and accessories.

To execute the highly detailed design, I collaborated closely throughout construction with the talented team at Holbeck Construction. Their trades and I spent a lot of time working out details onsite. Every aspect was painstakingly planned-- from framing the house to refining the interior moulding details, and placing cabinet pulls. Their solutions and suggestions made the design even better, and their pride of craftmanship is evident throughout the house.

This project was featured in Luxe Interiors + Design, Pacific Northwest Edition in November/December 2021.

Gold Creek

This light-filled Snohomish main suite bathroom was in great need of a remodel. Its unused corner bathtub, dated finishes, and cramped master closet did not function well for our clients.

We started with the layout, looking at different possibilities to maximize the square footage of the space to trade the unused bathtub for a spacious shower and larger walk in closet. The floating vanity cabinet lends a feeling of airy lightness to the space. Finishes in the space emphasize texture and nature-inspired elements to create a serene and tranquil feel.

One Clubhouse Lane

A year after buying a home in the seaside town of Mukilteo, our clients asked for help updating and personalizing their living spaces. To create the classic yet cozy feel they wanted for the home, we added contrast and interest with furniture pieces with a modern bent that nod to the past. The curves and glossy finish of the client’s beloved grand piano is reflected in key pieces throughout the space. Textural floor and wall finishes were then layered in to create warmth and contrast against the existing architectural paneling, finishing with a color palette inspired by the homes’ beautiful views of the Salish Sea and nearby islands.

Edmonds Bowl

Located in the idyllic seaside town of Edmonds, this kitchen received a much-needed remodel to revamp its frustration-inducing layout. The clients are avid cooks, and after a few months in their new home decided it was time to do something about the poorly laid out kitchen.

We analyzed three possible configurations, and landed on one that increased the kitchen’s footprint, as well as optimizing workflow. The finishes in the kitchen hail from the Pacific Northwest, with custom-made cabinets in natural cherry made in Oregon, and bespoke hexagonal tile handcrafted in Portland. The mix of warm woods and pops of color create this one-of-a-kind space that our wonderful clients will enjoy for years to come.

Everett Boutique CPA Office

Nestled in a 1960s high rise in the heart of downtown Everett, this boutique CPA firm was looking for a warm and unique office design that reflects their brand and pays homage to the town's history. Design details include pieces that were locally sourced and handcrafted, hearkening back to Everett's milling and naval history, with a modern bent.
